And this one to see the rainfall and stream flows (when there are any)

I've been watching over the last 10 days as a new "peninsula" extension has been forming off the westernmost point of the sandy beach area near Lago.  What was a just a shallow shadow...is now completely exposed.  Stay in the middle of the channel, which is now further to the left toward the cliff shoreline on the Rough Hollow side.  Water over there is still about 50' deep, but is just 10-12' deep at even 200 yards off the beach area.

Where could I launch my boat if I needed to? I have 4wd and don't mind paying fees.

what side of the lake are you on?  or what type would you like to be on?  dink pearson park in lago vista seems to be good and is free but no actual ramp.  also what size boat?  most ramps are out of the water or really close.

Either side I can work with, I don't mind. I just want to launch a 25' boat and keep it at VIP for a few days in a rental slip. I would keep the trailer at the hotel. This is just a launch and leave. I don't mind beach launching and I don't mind an hours drive.

Have you talked to vip to see if you can launch it there?  Most to all the public ramps are out of the water ao it will have to be a beach or a marina launch.

VIP doesn't have a ramp but Highland Lakes is still an option for smaller boats with a 4x4.

you can launch at emerald point, but its $35 and you have to call and schedule for when they aren't too busy. 7 days a week between 8:30 to 5pm.  I'm launching my 30' boat there Sunday for the new owner.

I'd be interested is see how deep the water is at the Emerald Point courtsey docks where the public is allowed to launch (for $35). When I was there for July 4th it was 7-11 ft deep. We've lost abt 3 feet since then.

Reporting back on emerald point. I launched the cruiser there this morning for the new owner and waved goodbye for the last time Cry
The ramp was a mudhole.  More fit for a monster truck rally that launching boats.  We did launch Ok and I got the trailer out, but I don't see how anything but their oversize construction rig could pull any decent size boat out there.  I had to jump in waist high and at one point one side of the boat and trailer seemed to drop down into a hole.  Thought it was going to slide off sideways.  It was touch and go all week if they were even going to permit me to use it and they wanted to inspect my setup before going through the gate. Mind you, this was just a one time launch, not even a retrieval but I see why.  Seemed it was the only ramp south side of the lake I could find where I could launch.  Look for "Josies Vacation" at VIP marina,  at least until the new owner puts his own name on her.

Here's my report from Emerald Point's ramp:  I was successful extracting my 28' Nordic using their ramp Saturday afternoon.  I used my 4x4 Excursion, with my 32' triple axle trailer.  Before doing this, I watched as they launched one small boat, and extracted one small boat,  were using their monster lunar rover-like tractor.  Yes, ramp was like a mud hole -- so my pucker factor was pretty high.  But, I just backed down toward the dock-side, and with the help of 3 of their ramp hands, got my boat out no problem.  Once the trailer was dunked, it was very flat there, so had to back in quite a ways (front wheels of truck did not have to go into water.  Pulling out, I had no wheel spin, just took it slow and used 4wd -- which is definitely mandatory for success.  Having the guys there to help was also huge.  Not sure I would have wanted to motor on to that trailer.

Wheels on trailer and truck got very muddy, but a quick trip to the car wash and that was taken care of.

Thx for the reports guys. The last time I was there, they offered to launch my boat for $50. They would used their trailer and tractor. For $15 bucks more,, might be worth it.

On a side note, when I was there for the 4th, they waived my launch fee since I had rented a slip for 3 nights.
