Hey all! Newbie + Storage Question

Hey all! New guy in town! I LOVE powerboats. Had an 18' Sutphen with 320 HP small block for years, then a 26' twin screw Sutphen with 650-ish HP (total). Looking forward to figuring out what's right for the lakes here and pulling the trigger.
In the meantime, my company has a bit Airstream trailer and Van that I need to find a good spot for near Austin. Indoor preferred. Any ideas?? Thanks much. Dave911

Both of those are extremely cool boats! It depends where you want to boat, if you like Lake Austin you can boat with about any size. If you want to do Travis, you'll get beat up pretty bad in anything under 27 or so.
My Monterey 22 was an awesome boat but entirely too small for Travis. Great on every other lake around here though.
No idea on the storage but welcome! I'm sure someone else will know.

welcome!!! I kind of agree with Evan in that it is better to have a bigger boat on travis but my family and I have always boated on travis in nothing bigger than a 22 foot boat. It is all in how you drive the lake.
on the storage there is very few places for indoor storage around here that would fit a big airstream and van. the best you maybe able to find is a covered storage but good luck.

Definitely good advice about best chances are finding covered storage vs. indoor storage.
For Lake Travis boating, I'd say that just about any boat works there -- depending on which days you boat, and where on the lake. I view the lake as being in two pieces, with two very different characters;
1) the lake from the dam (Mansfield) down to the 17MM. This part of the lake can get pretty busy on Summer weekends and gets pretty choppy from the boat traffic. Smaller boats can make it, but as the Captain pointed out it's pretty rough. During the week, no problem whatsoever.
2) the lake from the 17MM down as far as you can go water depth permitting. This part of the lake gets far less traffic, even on weekends. Pretty much any size boat can fare well, more or less. During the week, it's pretty much as if you've got the lake to yourself.
Welcome to town. You'll love it here.

I used them for my last boat, I liked them a lot. But the location is probably not what you want if you want an "Austin" spot.
I picked it because it was close to the Jonestown ramp which is basically a beautiful green field now.
