Engines out...time to scrub bilge

I figure while the engines are out I should clean the bilge completely. What do you guys like to use for such a job?

I've always heard purple power was good. I used simple green, dawn, and for the actual floor of the bilge (no wires) after the previous mentioned, I used soft scrub with bleach. After letting soft scrub set for about 30 min with plug in, flushed with water profusely. Then I used simple green one more time to get rid of any residue left behind. On all this I was very liberal with the amount of cleaners applied. Verrrrry strong solution of simple green.

I like the Spray Nine degreaser:

Thanks Jeff! I'll give that routine a try.
Greg, after your recommendation I got some Spray Nine, it works great on a ton of things around the boat. Especially when my transom had a lot of soot on it. Got a few spots in the bilge it's not really working on though.

Got to find a day when I can take off for work for a while to go out there. Hopefully in the next couple weeks. Getting damn busy with work though.

Just bought enough chemicals to poison an ocean. Going to head over on Monday to clean her up. Maybe Bob will even give me some good news that my parts are in...but not counting on it. Custom stuff takes forever.

All done! Damn I'm so much happier having that mess cleaned up. Looks so much better.
Saw all the parts, everything is looking great. Supposedly it's getting assembled next week. Excited to see the new intakes put on, should look really good.

I'll be cleaning out my bilge in the next couple of months. What worked best on the tough grime??
I was thinking abt using mineral spirits but inside the bilge, the fumes might be a bit much.

I looked for Purple Power but all Walmart had was Mean Green. Used that to loosen it up then used soft scrub on the tough spots.
Worked really well! If it wasn't dark I would have taken an "after" pic.
The key tho...power washer. Made all the difference.
