Hey eveyone. Name is John.
Been boating on the Aus area lakes since I moved here in 1991.
Spent the first couple of years mostly on Lake Aus when I was running my old 76 Carlson (the James Bond boat).
Moved to the Lake Georgetown area around 93 and spent a lot of time up there on the water with my daughter and my dog.
Moved up to a 1984 Chaparral 235XLC around 95. (I really wanted a Scarab, but went with the family truckster instead). Ran it on Travis and Lake G'town mostly.
Moved to the Jonestown area (to be closer to Travis
) abt 5 years ago. Haven't been on the water much the last few seasons due to personal reasons mainly, plus the water levels haven't helped either.
Abt 2 months ago, I was browsing Craigslist and fell in love with a 29' Fountain (w/twin BBCs). Now I got a case of boat fever that seems to be getting stronger by the day. Spent the last couple of weekends getting the ol Chaparral ready to put on the market. (Actually I posted it on Craigslist today)
So, if all goes well, by summer, I'll be darting around Travis in the high powered sport model I always wanted. That is,, if I can figure out where to launch from

Welcome to the forum, you can launch at private marinas for sure, lake travis marina, and emerald point both have ramps, they will get you for a premium. But the other guys on here should have some ideas as well, again great to have you on board!

welcome!! I have an 83 chaparral 235 xlc hull. they are nice boats!! Some day I will get it together. welcome to the forum and good luck on the sell. you may want to consider showing it on georgetown if there is no good ramps on travis. it is a longer pull but only a 4 dollar fee. post up picks of the chaparral as I would love to see one put together.

Only problem with Lake G'town is the dock situation. Checked-out Jim Hogg park last week and the dock is on the rocks. The park near the dam might still have the dock in the water, not sure.
There are some pics here:

I'll post some more directly when I get time.
In some ways I hate to the see the 235 go. It has a pretty good ride, nice cuddy, tons of storage, good on gas, etc. Just won't go 80+

Then another bravo, then another, then a blower re-build, then a top-end freshen, then who knows.

Welcome to the site! Can definitely tell people are getting the Spring lake fever. Let us know if you have any other questions or if you want to meet us for one of our group lake runs. I am out most weekends, so hope to see your new ride.
