Is Mansfield closed to big boats?

The cove has seemed so dead lately. Seems like the big trailer boat crowd has been absent. Am I guessing right?

I'd be surprised if it were closed for larger boats right now. The lake level is 641.
I launched there 2 weekends ago (lake level 642 at the time) with no issues. Guy with a 38 Formula put in before me. You have to launch to the far left side (as you look at the lake) of the ramp. At 638, I would probably not launch.

The few hours I spent with Jim paid off big time last weekend when I ran my boat in Galveston Bay. Jim taught me a few things about my boat and how to handle it in the rough waters as well as optimize the trim and tabs. Well worth the time. Jim is very knowledgeable about boats inside and out.... a true pro.

In my opinion, Travis is dead. I think people know the lake level is fine, but the long walks to the boat at the marinas get old. I have noticed that the customers we are serving are typically from here, rather than people from out of town too. Seems people are taking vacations to other places this year.

I had my parents in 2 weeks ago and they love going out on the boat. My dad is 80 and mom 75. We couldn't get them down to the boat! My marina (Marshall Ford) was way to hard for them to navigate, Gnarly Gar would have been way to far to drive, Cafe Blue was way to steep.
We tried Mansfield Dam, and the bottom part of that ramp was to steep as well. We finally got them down that way but it was too hard. That was the only day we went out and they usually like going out 3 or 4 days when they are here.
I never thought it was going to be a problem until we took them boating that first day!

There are several marinas that aren't too bad. Paradise Cove, West Beach, and Southshore come to mind.

I tend to agree...if I can do watersports on a Saturday all day without too much of a bother with traffic something has changed a lot.

A lot of the boats in austin are not die hard lake nuts. if they can not launch were they normally do they just park the boat. when all the travis ramps were out of the water I went to georgetown. but when the lake levels go down the boats go up for sale in austin. lakes are up less for sale.

When I was selling my boat, all the calls were from out of towners.
