Devil's Cove sound ordinance - passed

This really sucks. First the sound ordinance and then "loitering" I'd imagine.

you would think that the older people would have an issue hearing it.  maybe if everyone changes that "rap music" to classical or country maybe they wouldn't be so mad.  but on a serious note if I lived in the cove and my 5 year old and 1 year old was playing outside I don't know if I want them to be listening to rap. I like some rap but I don't really want my kids listening to it.  when austin passed their noise ordinance everyone said it was going to kill live music in austin.  With the resources of jonestown i believe that the only way they will inforce this is if there is complaints.  100 ft is a descent distance from the boat.  on a side note that "kidd doe" is an idiot.  saying that now there will just be 24/7 parties in the cove.  Thats just dumb and a good way for the residence to push to make it a private cove.  comments like his only hurts the people just looking to have a good time on the lake and in the cove.

They can't make any part of an LCRA lake private.  I'm not sure Joestown even has jurisdiction unless you are tied to shore.  Guess we'll find out.  Obviously, they think so.

It would probably be a good idea not to forget the two Golden Rules. The one that I try to adhere to, "Do unto others......", then there's the other one. Those with the gold rule. The property owners in Devils have some gold. They will continue to put pressure on the LCRA, who is the ultimate water surface managers on the lake. LCRA is a reactionary agency and will try to pacify the property owners. It shouldn't take much to figure out who is going to eventually win this fight if the boaters don't try to be more respectful of other people's right to also enjoy the lake in a manner that doesn't include listening to unreasonably loud music. In my opinion, the handwriting is on the wall. In the near future, the new Devils will be Arkansas Bend Cove or some other cove that doesn't involve complaining waterfront property owners.

Hydro is right, it's just a matter of time. We'll need to start finding somewhere new to party. I think Arkansas Bend is probably the next logical choice.

To Nathan's point, that's all true, it's not a good environment for kids. However, unless you are a complete idiot, you wouldn't move there and encourage your kids to be in that environment. Like Owtlaw said, it's like moving near the airport and being surprised there is noise from planes. I heard someone else say, it's like moving near the stadium and being surprised it's noisy every Saturday in fall. I'm sure someone got the idea that they would buy there and then quietly change the laws, which clearly is what's happening.

are you sure they just moved there? would it make a difference if they have lived there for years and are just wanting to enjoy living on the lake.  just playing devils advocate.  the same thing has happened out were we are.  my family was one of the first to move to this valley (early 70s) we have hunted out here for year but now people have started moving down here from the city and we have found that if we hunt on our own land the cops get called on us for shooting guns.  we for the first time had cops running radar on the road because some of the new people decided that we original people were driving too fast and their kids couldn't safetly play in the road.  they each own at least 5 acres of land but were letting their kids play in the road like they did in the city.  or community down here are going from trucks to BMWs.  it seems to be happening everywhere.  the sad part is that the people with the most support will win in the end with the officals.

Yeah, I'm sure.  Those developments are new.  There used to be no houses there at all, which is what made it a party cove to begin with.

i was just playing devils advocate, kind of the same thing has been happening here with the new people moving in here.  i personally think that they are not going to the resources to enforce it.  all people will have to do is turn down their radios when a police boat come in the cove.

These home owners obviously have an agenda. If they could get the noise ordinance through it wouldn't be a surprise if they managed to get something preventing lines of boats from tying up.

It could be like getting a ticket for no front plate, some people will risk it. They will give warnings first.

I didn't see anything for noise, but everyone who was inside the no wake zone tied along the shore in Devil's Cove was getting talked to by the law. I am not sure what the deal was.

Tying to shore is trespassing.
