Are we lame? What's the deal?
Jun 4th, 2010 at 2:14pm

Hubby and I have a wake board boat, we're 28 and 35 (no kids), have a lot of friends, yet no one wants to come out on our boat. What's the deal? Is it because the lake is too far out and most people we know live down town or south? Does anyone else have problems getting guests to hang out on the boat? If not, I guess it's just us!  Undecided

If anyone has suggestions on how to get people to come out, please share!

Hey there, we had the same issue last year. For the better part of the summer it was just my GF and I on the lake. Now we are making a lot more friends on the water and that's been making our boating more fun. Every weekend we have a boat or two of friends to tie up with and hang out. Also this forum has been a great way to meet friends, most weekends I'll either hang out with someone from here or at least run in to them for a chat on the lake.

This last weekend we had a full boat and it was fun, but kinda made me miss the quiet days of just a few of us on the boat!

I have had this come up occasionally. Growing up I always jumped at the chance so I figured everyone else would. Eventually friends who had the same interests came out of the wood work.

let your friend know how much fun you are having and that you want them to join.  maybe try lake austin so you are closer to downtown and south.  get them hooked on lake austin then wow them on travis.  some people don't understand the boating life until they try it.

Nobody with a Wakeboard Boat is Lame!  So cross that off your list.
Your friends are missing out, meet some new ones on the lake. Smiley

I hope you have a great season!

I appreciate all the feedback guys! All very good points (especially that our wake board boat is not lame Wink) I actually went out on Lake Austin this weekend, so thanks for the tip Nathan. I was able to rope in a lot more people that way, just because of the dt convenience. Next time we go out, hopefully we can hook up with some of you guys!

Friends that won't make a 30 minute drive from downtown to Lake Travis for a day on the lake on a cool wake/ski boat?

Perhaps it's time for some new/different friends?
