What's fun to do in San Antonio?
Oct 2nd, 2009 at 8:07am

I've never been and I'm heading down with my GF this weekend. She's in the AF reserves and is having a "family day" on her duty weekend. So I'll have a little time to check out the city. Any suggestions?

the main thing all people gotta hit is the river walk. Its a big tourist trap with mediocre food, but its cool to check out. Neat scenery and good people watching!

We did go check out the River Walk, it was an enjoyable time. Very cool atmosphere besides the nasty looking water! Went to a Mexican restaurant with food that Taco Bell would be having doubts about the quality over. But, it was still fun.

Did you get a chance to check out the Alamo?   IMO- that's a worthwhile visit.

I didn't get a chance to do that! We drove by it on the way back to Lackland, so got a little bit of a peek. I wanted to get back to Austin to hang out with some people who were in town for ACL. So I had to skip that one. That probably should be the thing I do next time I head down to San Antonio.

I felt a little underwhelmed when going to the Alamo for some reason. I had a much more grandiose version of it in my mind (I have no idea why). It's still very cool to go and get the history of it though.
