I am new to the area still and quite content. But I am curious, those of you that have been here for some time, where else would you move?

Because of my job, I really can live wherever I want in central Texas. But I love Austin. I could see myself moving out towards Jonestown and building a house on a lot nicely located near Lake Travis. But I am falling in love with Lake Belton. It's a huge wonderful lake and lakefront property is a bargain.

I didn't think you could build waterfront on Lake Belton....maybe waterview up on the cliffs?   I know that docks are not allowed.

I would try and live close to where I worked.   Austin's traffic can be a nightmare.   If I was kidless, I would love to live downtown (however, my liver would probably hate it Angry).

I grew up in NW Hills area (Steck & Mopac) so I'm partial to NW Austin.

I like RR, but it's a real hassle to try and carpool downtown to the warehouse district or to a tail gate.   I have several friends that live in Austin that still think that RR is like half way to Dallas.

Yeah, as lake front as you can get...close up to it but I don't recall seeing any docks either. But plenty out houses around it. I saw a real estate flyer with some very decent houses around the lake in the $250 range. Beats the hell out of the $1 mill. range!

My friends are the same way, they act like driving 20 minutes from Mopac and 45th to Round Rock is going past Waco. I don't mind though, they have to have four dudes living in one house to afford the neighborhood and it's not even nearly as nice. On nights like tonight it's great, my GF is leaving town so I'll probably go hit the town with them and just crash there. $20 cab ride is not bad at all!

I'd like to live in the south east part of town, I love the rolling hills and all the big trees. I am happy as a clam where I'm at though.
