Prop slip like a MUTHA TRUCKA!!!
Apr 25th, 2014 at 4:48pm

So, finally got the boat out today, nice amount of chop, just me and the wife, 3/4 tank of fuel, and ran her to get some numbers. Well, we GPSed her at 71mph. Not too bad with a heavy load of fuel... BUT... at 5400 RPMs. Now, on a 26P Bravo, that equates to roughly 20% slip! Terrible! I will be measuring up the old x dimension this weekend to get some exact numbers to the Nordic gurus on OSO. I KNOW I can squeeze a few more out of her with some drive tweeking. Just wanted to share lol.

That's good news in a way! You have some real potential then.

I need to figure out how to calculate that.

Next time you are out, bring the ole GPS with ya. Get your GPS speed and RPMs at that speed. Just google prop slip calculator. Input your numbers, plus prop pitch, gear ratio and bam. You get numbers. The more exact the mph and rpms the better.

I did that and I got a number that made zero sense, so I think I have to spend more time with it.

That one worked better. I'm at 5 percent.

That seems a little low but I have no idea. I guess time to start reading up!

Yeah, sounds a little low. Have your props been cupped?

I can't use a calculator on my current props since they have a custom "progressive" pitch. (Something the prev owner had done) If I use the number stamped on the prop, I get neg 1%.. Shocked

Hahaha, crazy numbers guys Smiley

I am not on shorties, but stepped Nordics have pretty high X dimensions from the factory, so it may be worth a try for sure to get a bit better bite and more bow lift.

Mine has the 1 inch x-dimension spacer on it I got into it once last weekend on 26 pitch bravo 1 prop and saw 65 on GPS did not look at rpm at the time, but did have full tanks and all our camping gear with us. I'm interested in playing with it alot more and seeing your feed back on what u have going.

Haha, my goal right now is to bug the hell out of my wife about a bigger faster boat. I figure if I bug her enough about a 90k boat, a 4k supercharger will seem like nothing lol.

Lol no competition here I went out of my way to find a stock never touched blue motor with factory assembly locks on it. Hauling ass is great and all but a boat that runs every weekend when I turn the key is more important to me. I'll keep the hot rodding to cars since if something let's go no big deal on a boat little harder to get home. Speaking of cars I'll leave this here.
