Anyone going to be out on the 4th? We're planning on running during the day and docking at night to watch VIP's fireworks.

I think we are staying home this year. Were hoping my wife could get the 5th off so we could go stay the night on the lake and watch all the various fireworks... but alas, her job SUCKS. Oh well. Fort Hood is lighting off their set about 1/2 mile from my front door, so we will be able to see all.

We are not for sure what we are doing. My parents are taking my kids with them to jellystone rv park in tyler starting tomorrow. they want us to come up there but I do not know if I want to drive 3 hours there and back to just stay for a little amount of time. I too have to work on Friday.

Assuming my lake test goes OK Tues, I'm planning on being on the water for the VIP fireworks.

This is our first year to watch it from the water. We were planning on watching VIP's fireworks. Anyone have tips on best place to anchor? Thinking just north of Starnes Island.
Were were then planning to hustle over to Lakway and catch their show at 10:00.

Anyone tried to make both shows? Anyone know best place to watch Lakeway?

That would probably work. Most people anchor between VIP and the island when I watched last year.

Last year, boaters filled the entire basin around Starnes, up Sandy Creek and in front of Lake Travis Marina.
I had the pleasure of towing an 80ft houseboat through all of it in 25mph winds. No fun.

Humm, I found a webpage that says no Lakeway fireworks this year due to drought.
http://www.cityoflakeway.com/index.aspx?nid=315
Found this too:

I heard there was supposed to be another fireworks display Friday up river somewhere.

Change of plans for me. Some jackass decided to change the duty roster yesterday and now I have 24 hour duty on the 4th. First Memorial Day, now the 4th. My bum is starting to hurt from the pounding I am receiving.
