Wet sanding
Feb 24th, 2013 at 11:08am

My winter project was wet sand and fix and nicks and dings. At this point I consider myself a fiberglass expert. I have learned to spray gel and do the repair. We removed all the hardware and emblems started at 600 and worked all the way to 2500. I don't really have many photos because taking a picture of a white hull does not show anything. It's always white. I think this one is after pilish

Washing and running motors. I am very pleased with the way it came out. It looks great in the water. I even buffed the bottom.  I will post more later it stopped letting me upload.

I bet you are getting excited for the season! There's a size limit on the pictures, if you shrink them they'll upload.

Your boat looks great!  Can't wait to see it on the water.  Are you coming out to run w/ us on March 2d?

These are in no order. I was trying to upload from my iphone early today.  The process went like this.  600, 800,1000,1200,1500,2000,2500, buff compound, 2500 again, compound, polish, wax, reinstall hardware.

...

I was shooting for a couple more mph.  Smiley I did work on a couple of spots on the strakes though.

Looks great. If you used my new Riptide Liquid Compound you could have stopped sanding at 2000 grit and gone straight to buffing.

Be sure to put a good polymer sealant to preserve the finish and all the hard work.

I love white boats.

We are having the spring opener run on Travis.  Launching out of Highland Lakes marina, burning some gas with a run up the lake, lunch at the Gnarly Gar then a raft-up in Devils.  We did it last Spring and had a great time.

Details on meeting times to follow....
