Day with the boat....not on the water
May 12th, 2012 at 8:29pm

Ok...since I'm waiting for my new trailer tires to come in and I can't go boating, today became wash/wax the boat day.  The boat was much much dirtier than I expected it to be after last weekend on the lake.

Thought I would share some pics.
1.  Getting ready
2.  Lake scum
3.  After waxing
4.  More shine
5.  All covered up...and Done!!

Looks nice g
I would suggest a marine wax instead of the Kit wax you have to preserve your finish and get a lot more durability than what Kit can offer while the boat is in the water.

Beautiful boat

Looks good! I like the addition of the window sticker on the truck. Amazing how one weekend can dirty up a boat.

Does your transom seem to get much dirtier than the rest of the boat too? Looks really good! I also dig the sticker Wink If I had a truck I would happily add that blind spot.

My transom does get the black stuff on it. Sometimes more and sometimes a lot less. It's hard to get off if I let it sit, so I try to clean it right after I pull the boat from the water.  Spray nine works pretty well, but not perfect. The best stuff I've used was called "Transom Sauce" sold by some guys in Havasu. I don't think they make it anymore....but I have not looked recently.

We need to get Hula on some "transom sauce" Smiley I have a hell of a time cleaning off my transom after a day of running hard. Break out the buffer type hell of a time.

Hey Jay
I appreciate the challenge.
What "stuff" are you trying to remove from the transom.
If you can give me a description and perhaps post a picture I can kick up some stuff and have you test it.

Be Safe
John...

I will get you a picture when I get home after a hard weekend out. Basically, my engine runs rich normally (Mercury Racing 500 EFI baby!) and leaves a ton of soot on the transom. It comes out with the water in the exhaust, sprays all over the place, then digs itself into everything on the transom. A real pain in the buttocks to clean. Normally I have to use a cleaner wax at the very least, and depending on how much I ran, I have to use the buffer sometimes to get it all off.
