Carb rebuild
Apr 24th, 2012 at 9:15pm

I have decided to rebuild the carter that came on the boat because I found a rebuild kit on eBay for $30.  I was not surprised at what I found when I opened it up tonight.  But I do believe this would cause the issues I am seeing with the motor bogging down.

I would definitely clean the snot out of all of that. Soak it in some solvent or something. I am glad you are making progress towards the water though Smiley

This is the carb that was on the boat when I got 2 years ago. it set for five years before that. When I got it I put one of my holley carbs on it. when I took the motor out my dad decided he wanted the carb that was on it. so I had to put this one back on but forgot I had not cleaned it until he reminded me. lol. so here we go the kit should be here tomorrow or friday and the time to get smelly and redo it.

here is what I have after a 45 minutes soak and then going over it with can carb cleaner.  it is now flowing through all the jets.  it is not as tarnished as the pictures make it look.   tomorrow I will clean some more then put it back together so maybe I can take her out on saturday.

Always!  makayla is truly a dad's girl and as long as I am in the garage so is she.  it doesn't matter what I am doing unless I am using the compresser because it is loud.  All I have to do is grab it and she is gone LOL.

oldtimer idled better and was more responsive.  she still seemed to load up at speed and pops but at least it recovers better.  I am going to change plugs and try again this weekend.  I think I am going to watch the choke to see if it is either closing or open at speed.  I may just have to make it stay open and deal with a cold natured boat.
