Looks like a pretty nice hull. What does it cost to get it powered by a 496 HO or 502?

here are a few motors

those are just the engines. I don't know if it needs an outdrive but I have seen those from 300 to 1500

Yeah that's what I was guessing, it's probably asking for problems too. If I had a really big go fast bug this would be perfect, but I have a bigger bug for reliability.

the big motors are just as reliable as the small with proper care and not running at wot all the time. It may cost more to repower this one then buying one that is ready but the difference is atleast you know how this one has been treated and it has a warrenty.

Yeah, I understand that engine for engine they are very reliable.
I'm referring to a lesson learned racing cars...new engine projects inherently have a lot of bugs to be worked out and that is especially frustrating on the water. At least if it comes from the factory it was likely done correctly the first time.

If you're in that range you should be looking at a Heat. I love my boat, Rage Open Bow, but it's a compromise in ride quality compared to the Heat. That extra 3 feet is a BIG difference in ride on a Travis weekend. I have the 25 because the kids love watersports. Yes they slalolm ski behind my boat. It's a little faster but you can get a nice Heat open bow or not for less than you'd pay for that Rage with even a 496 HO. Just something to think about.

Depends on your goals. If your goal is to haul ass, the Rage is a great hull and this is a great opportunity to get a really crazy engine package. But if you want to just be fast and have a smooth ride, I agree with Rage, skip this one and get a Heat.
