Getting and keeping vinyl clean
Feb 23rd, 2011 at 12:47pm

As the boating season is upon us I was wondering what products and popular methods you guys follow to get and keep your vinyl clean...

I have formulated a 2 in 1 vinyl cleaner and conditioner which cleans the vinyl surface from just about everything except mold and spider poop, while leaving the surface supple.  It provides a UV protectant to the surface without  leaveing the surface feeling greasy or looking too shiny.

Let me know what works for you.

The last stuff I had made the vinyl slick as hell, stubbed my toe after slipping on it and couldn't run for two weeks because of it. Soooo lately I've been using a damp rag, but I'm probably ready to buy some better stuff for this season!

But what if I want the spider poop removed? Smiley

I can understand the slick vinyl comment...
A good friend of mine had some protectant on his seats and it was a stunner when my 4 year old went sliding across the back bench after we dropped a wakeboarder and had to go back and get him with a hair pin u turn  Smiley

As for spider poop... this is a good one. I developed a biodegradable, non acid hull cleaner that is removing spider poop from fiberglass and towers. I have not had the chance to test it on vinyl yet.  The hull cleaner is being sold to a couple of service centers on Lake Travis... If you would like to volunteer a spider poop surface I would be happy to meet you somewhere and we can see what a diluted version can do.  I will also bring you some Wipe Out Vinyl Cleaner & Conditioner as a "Thank You"

Hey Outlaw
Thanks for the info. I will pick some up when I return from my trip next week.

I see on the Spray Nine website that this product is a cleaner and disinfectant. What do you use to condition the vinyl to keep it from drying and cracking.

I appreciate the insight.

Suntan oil and beer.  Grin

I had planned on doing it with Murphy's oil soap once a year or so, but she's going up for sale so it's a non issue. I use Murphy's on my leather at home and it keeps it nice and supple.
