It sounds like Lake Austin will be lowered around Jan. 3, 2011.

I don't think they did it last year and you could really tell.

IMO, it needs to be done every year and not every other year.

My kids hate the stuff and it can be a bitch if you get caught up in the stuff (swimming and prop wise).   I once threw a prop hub on a Michigan Wheel and I thought I had lost my outdrive.

Ouch, that's got to be a nasty feeling.

Do the homeowners complain about it lowering?

Actually I think they prefer to have it lowered every year.   It gives them an opportunity to do dock and bulkhead work, remove debris as well as kill the hydrilla.

Once the lake is lowered, all you need is one overnight freeze and it will make a big difference the following summer.   What sucks is when they lower the lake for 2-3 weeks and we have pretty weather the entire time.   Need the freeze to really do some hydrilla damage.

Just got done with some jobs on the lake and spoke to the officials. They say it has dropped a foot and estimate a 3/4 foot drop per day. All the ramps are padlocked. The Walsh Landing Ramp was already a pain to use.
