Anyone heading out here for the 4th?
Jun 23rd, 2010 at 8:31pm

A friend of ours invited us out to her family's house near Lake LBJ for the Fourth of July. I've never had the boat out there and I'm looking forward to it.

Anything I need to know prior to getting out there?

its a great lake.  watch some of the coves with a lot of tree.  there maybe snakes in them there trees.  I personally love the sunrise beach area.  my grandpa had a lake house there when we were kids and spent a lot of summers there.

I have heard the rangers do a lot of safety checks so be careful out there.

Hi Captain,

Be careful going up river on both the Colorado and LLano.   Lots of rocks upriver.    The Colorado arm goes forever but once you start getting close to the Inks Lake dam beware of rocks.

I've been up the Llano a little but was told not to go to far up because of rocks.

Sunrise Beach - "The Beach" has been crazy for holidays but it a great place to check out if you can get a spot.

I think we might be going out there for July 4th weekend.   I heard that the firework show from Blue Lake was pretty good but have never witnessed it firsthand.

Wouln't mind meeting up, just beware that it will be a kid fest (6-8 kids aging from 6 -12 yo).

What part of the lake will you be staying?

We would love to meet up with ya Shaka! We don't mind some kids around.

We will be at a house in Granite Shoals, but I'm happy to cruise around and see the sights on the way to somewhere.

I've heard the shores are pretty dicey, so stay in the middle and watch that depth finder.

I'll do my best, I might set the alarm a little deeper than normal just to be on the safe side.
