What products do you like to use on vinyl? I've heard bleach works as well as anything else. Thoughts?

Bleach & water is probably one of the safest but spray nine makes a real good vinyl cleaner as well.

Where do you get your Spray Nine?  West Marine has it, but they want an arm and a leg.

Here's another hot tip, passed along to me several years ago...which I've been following ever since.  I've found no better method -- and I've tried just about all of them.

Go find your standard blue liquid cleaner/degreaser, in the large bottle, at a cleaning place.  Costco or Home Depot.   It's about $3 for a gallon.  Use it 75/25 cut with water, in a spray bottle.

Spray on vinyl, use medium bristled brush in circular motion to work in.   Do as many times as necessary.  RINSE with water when done.  Do small sections at a time.

For really NASTY stains and dirt -- especially on white vinyl/rubber rub-rails, I use SoftScrub with bleach, with a medium grain scrubbing pad (for rub rail), or same soft bristled brush for vinyl.

When finished cleaning, use 3M "303" Vinyl UV protectant as finishing.   Find 303 online.  Expect to pay about $60 for this for a good sized supply.  I guarantee you there is nothing better out there.  I've used on all boat vinyl and car interiors of all types (including leather) for years.  It's amazing stuff -- and goes a long way.  Dries non-greasy.

Be careful cleaning with bleach....even with a diluted mix it will eat the threads in your vinyl stitching.

Ooooo, that's very important to know! I haven't had to clean anything yet that didn't require a wiping off. But good to know in the future.

Just about any product will do that over time. It also makes a big differance in whether you keep you boat covered or not.
