Safe Boating Distance

New to the forum, I am a fisherman and I have a question for all the sjiers/wakeboarders. Not trying to start anything just wanting to know, what do you think a safe distance is from a boat when you are pulling a skier?
I have been fishing on lake austin and have had several boats come within 20ft of me while pulling a skier.

Jeeze, that's waaaaaay too close. I try to do two things. I try to slow down so I don't throw you off your boat with my wake and I try to keep 50 yards or so.
I would say I use common sense, but as they say, common sense sure isn't common

That's why I avoid Lake Austin. Travis has more idiots, but they're farther apart.

People have no consideration. Last summer I was on Lake Georgetown anchored along the shore line and some jerks pulling a wake boarder kept passing by close enough to knock me off balance. Not once but repeatedly. Hate it.

I don't understand why people do that. I hate riding near others, that's how boarders get killed.

Lake Travis at least has the big waves that make most people slow down a bit more than they would otherwise. Nobody likes having your spine jarred because you wanna go 45.

I see and talk to him all the time on austin bass fishing. I think he was hoping to find more lake austin boater. one thing that is alway talked about on the other forum is about what he asked in the beginning and how often wakeboard boats get real close to the fishing boats.

That's too bad, it'd be good to have a few more experts on Lake Austin to keep Shaka and Wake man company! I don't want this to turn in to a Lake Travis only board lol
