Best deal on a boat slip or dry stack on Travis?
Nov 17th, 2009 at 1:02pm

I am wondering if its more economical to pay for a dry stack storage of my boat and not bother paying for a tow vehicle anymore. Anyone know of any good deals at a marina on Lake Travis for a slip or dry stack?

I got a card in the mail from Riviera Marina saying if you do a 12 month lease you can get five or six months free. It looks like a couple hundred bucks a month.

I don't know how that compares though.

Hmmmm, that would be about the same as what I'm paying for a tow vehicle but would lose the ability to go to different lakes. It would be damn nice not to have to tow it home after a long day of boating and partying.

Oh yeah, that's a big deal. I can imagine how nice it is to toss someone your keys in the evening when you are totally worn out.

The other thing that gets me thinking, I could keep the truck and just worry about upgrading to a new Malibu or something Smiley

Glad I noticed your question.  I am the owner of Riviera Marina.  Over the years we have been asked that question over and over.  The answer is YES!  The majority of people have grand ideas of tranporting there boat all over the state and it never happens in most cases.  People use there boats less if the they have to mess with the headaches of the trailering the boat.  Boat ramp lines, flat tires, expired plates and taillights not working. I could go on and on.

Most dry stacks on Lake Travis start around 175.00 per month and go up from there depending on the size of your boat.  Last I looked truck prices are much more per month for a new auto.  Don't forget the insurance on the auto as well.  We run monthly specials so give us a call.  512-250-8321

If you dry stack, what do you do with the trailer?  Do you have storage for the trailers?  How much does that run?

My rig won't fit into my garage and I pay $75 a month for shed storage now (dirt floor / tin shed).   Might be worth the extra hundred bucks..........

There's definitely a ton of great reasons for getting a slip or dry stack. But in these drought years, it seems a little dicey being stuck in one lake. Maybe it helps on Travis though, with less boats launching! Smiley
