As requested, here is a place for you to discuss water sports in all varieties.

I am sure personally I'll be asking lots of dumb wake boarding questions at some point as I try to learn!

What length do you usually wake board?   Does length matter if you are with or without a tower?

Length has a lot of different variables. It depends on boat size, width, drive type and speed you ride at. You want to be in the sweet spot before the wake curls over. In my opinion length doesn't change much based on tower or not.
