Lake LBJ - Labor Day Weekend
Aug 31st, 2009 at 12:42am

Going to LBJ for the Labor day weekend.   We have some friends that have a lake cabin in the Sunrise Beach area.

Ski / Wakeboard runs in the morning and hanging out at the beach in Sandy Creek in the afternoon.

Look for a couple of 20' Baja runabouts and my old Celebrity "Shaka"

Yep, we're going out Friday and coming back Monday.   I hate missing the season opener.....but I got out voted.

A lot of people hang out at "the beach" in Sandy creek by Sunrise Beach.   Tame compared to Devils Cove.   No nudity.  Kid friendly.

The Game Wardens don't mess around out there.   They do ramdom safety checks.   We got stopped twice in one day while underway.

Tons of wave runners (PWCs) out there.

From Wikipedia.....

The "shaka" sign is a common greeting gesture. It is often associated with Hawaii.

Hawaiian locals use the shaka for various meanings, like "all right", "cool", "smooth", etc. Residents of states other than Hawaii who use the shaka may describe it as meaning "hang loose" and in California, the symbol itself is more commonly called the "hang loose" sign rather than the "Shaka" sign. It is also used to convey what locals in Hawai'i call the "Aloha Spirit," a gesture of friendship and understanding between the various ethnic cultures that reside within Hawai'i. It can also be used to signal a "hello", "goodbye", " 'till next time", "take care", "Alright!" In sign language, the shaka is one of the two signs used to refer to surfing.

Love Sunrise beach.  growing up my grandfather and my uncle had lake houses there.  spent alot of time at my grandfathers place.  it was in a cove just off the main water across from a big park (or camp).  caught a lot of fish including a huge catfish I think it was around 18 lbs.  my grandpa caught it with line that looked more like small rope.  I was given all his fishing gear when he passed and I still fish with them today.  they are usually the ones I catch fish with.  love memories!!!!
