People who go here, why do ya like it?

When I test drove my boat we launched off 360 and ran around Lake Austin for an hour or so. Seems pretty decent, but I'm not sure if it's better than the other lakes around here.
Is there a good reason to hang around Lake Austin that I didn't notice on a Wednesday night?

We like Lake Austin for several reasons..........
1. Constant level lake - very few stumps / rocks / underwater obstacles.
2. Excellent ski / wakeboarding lake - granted you have to go up river some distance, but the water is usually smooth during the week and early on the weekends.
3. Convenient - Loop 360 triple lane ramp is easily accessable.
4. Decent restaurants (ski shores, hula hut, etc.) and nice swimming holes / coves (Bull Creek & Dinosaur cove).
5. Emma Long Park - excellent waterfront RV and tent camping.
6. Nice clean
cool
refreshing water (comes off the bottom of Travis.
7. No Jet Skis during holiday weekends.
CONS
1. Narrow and can get busy during the weekend.
2. Hydrilla
3. No ramp supervision - general idiotic ramp behavior

Don't forget your car gets covered in bird poo at the 360 ramp!

Good point.......don't look up and don't park under the bridge.

My GF got hit when we test drove our boat, twice. But running fast under the bridge is a small price to pay for quick access to the lake.
Is it ridiculously crowded with Lake Travis closed?

It's not as bad as you would think. There has been in increase in "go fast" boats (Baja, Nordics, Scarabs, etc.) Not a lot, but a few.
IMO, Lake Austin is way too narrow for the big boats.
We've been going out earlier then normal (10:00 a.m.) As well as getting off the lake earlier (6:00 p.m. ish). It hasn't been too bad. We get our water activities completed while the water is relatively good and then go float and swim in one of the coves (out of the way of the main channel and all of the boat traffic).
I don't even want to think what the ramp is like at dusk. We've noticed a lot more inconsiderate ramp idiots.

Yeah, those boats need some room to run and Lake Austin definitely isn't that lake. Some lazy cruising sure, not bombing down at 60 mph.
Is your boat on Lake Austin Shaka?

I'm on a trailer. Live in RRock (Stone Canyon) and boat is in covered storage off of 620 & Hatch road (183 & 620 area).

I am not familiar with your boat brand. What kind of engine does it have? Is that still a popular brand?

Celebrity built boats for about twenty years and went out of business in 1999.
Fred Claxton started the company and sold it to Bombadier (SeaDoo & Lear Jets) in 1997 and then started the Crownline brand. It has some similiar lines with the early Crownlines.
Bombadier moved production from Illinois to Canada and then dropped the line when they couldn't get the economies of scale they were hoping to achieve with their Sea Doo brand (this was before they introduced the SeaDoo runabout....all they had at the time were snow mobiles and PWCs).

I like the tall rear end of the boat, looks pretty aggressive.

Agreed, gives it quite a performance boat look.
