Title: LTPA Fun Run
Post by Blessed on Sep 5th, 2014 at 3:18pm
I'm not a member of the Lake Travis Powerboat Assocation, but do have them as a bookmark.  Well earlier, I just happened to click on the link.  Looks like they are having a fun run on travis on Sept. 13th.  Maybe old news, just happened to click on LTPA website though.

I did one run with those guys and I'll never participate again. Drinking is a sport before the run. Bad idea to start the run at the bar after a couple of hours of drinking bloody Mary's. I feel bad for other folks on the lake. An accident and lawsuits just waiting to happen.

That is terrible.  I do not drink up others in my family do.  so when we go boating they have a drink or two but if I am not there they know to only have a small amount.  I wish that everyone that is in control of a boat can either go sober or if they cannot then be smart about the amount the consume.

I'll check that out. Last time I went it was a pretty good time but I didn't get far because that's the day I lost one of my engines. Everyone was very friendly and I didn't notice anyone getting out of hand or stupid. Not saying it doesn't happen but I didn't see it that one day.

I hope for everyone's sake that it's different. After my experience I read a lot about different poker/fun runs and most have a no drinking until after the event policy. Many have wrist bands on the driver and if anyone sees them drinking they're automatically dq'd and asked to leave the run.   Unfortunately I believe the run starts at a bar a couple of hours before the start of the run. Good luck.

I think I'm probably out on it. Been spending waaaaaay too much on gasoline lately. Need a nice chill weekend.

The run will start at Lakeway Marina with breakfast tacos, Bloody Marys,
and Mimosas from 10am to noon.  From there, we will make take the scenic
route to the Point Venture Beach for snacks, music and fun.  Floateez will
be there showing off some great gear.  Food and drinks will be available
for purchase from Vincent.  As we get close to 5pm, we will make our way
over to the Gnarly Gar who will be providing live music, great food, and
awesome drinks.

Lol lakeway to point venture to gnarly gar. That's a fun run? You'd barley get engines up to operating temp.

No kidding...I guess if I went out...I wouldn't burn much gas :)

Haha, that's what they get for trying to muscle in on the "fun run".

I think when they say they'll take the "scenic route" to the beach...that means Marina to....Devil's....back to beach.
Idunno.  Either way, I'm not in.  I2D is still at LOTO, and I'm going to Port Aransas for the first time to see some new scenery.
