Anyone use these on their boat trailer?

We use one on my parents travel trailer.  But if you have surge brakes you cannot use one as it will prohibit the brakes from working.

Did you happen to read that article that was posted on OSO? I have been wanting to convert to EOH for sure, not sure about WD systems though. I guess it cannot hurt.

Changed over to EoH a couple years ago, now I will use the WD hitch.  Not because of the brake change, one may get a WD hitch that works with surge brakes. However I did get a solid new coupler welded on, no more surge in any type fashion.

Turns out my tongue weight is a little over what I should be running on the Tundra without a WD Hitch.  (500 lbs)  Will put WD on this weekend and will tow back to Houston for the Outlaw Challenge. I will try to remember to report back, the difference without and with WD hitch.


Using a WD Hitch is supposed to control sway better than conventional hitches, there are different levels of a WD Hitch that one may go.  WD Hitch with double sway control arms with the spring bars is the top of the line.

Of course I use one with the Travel Trailer (29') also, but it does see the road time the boat will this year.  Normally with the TT it goes from storage about a 1/4 mile away on the same property to the campsite. I don't bother to even put spring bars on for such a short trip, but the truck sags like  old granny boobs.  lol

Yeah, I saw the article abt financial responsibility and WD hitches.
It was an eye opener abt how a greedy lawyer can take everything from you if your involved in an accident and not "properly equipped".

Those tow ratings you see advertised for pick-ups are very deceiving. From what I gathered, if your boat+trailer weighs over 6000 lbs, you supposed to have a WD hitch (unless you have a gooseneck).

I am just going to convert to a gooseneck :) I have the hitch and such already lol.
