so I have started the rebuild on the pontoon.  I am taking it apart to see what all it needs and I will start rebuild it have the new year.  so here is where I got after the first night.  only worked on it for about an hour.  side rails off and front fences.

I went out with the family around mid day and this is what I got done Saturday afternoon.  seat, console, wires, steering, controls, and carpet off.

Wow, that's really a complete redo! You are going to be one busy guy. Hope you have enough time by spring!

I hope the rest goes as easy and quickly as the tear down.

Looks like you will have a nice winter project going for a few months.

It should last a while as I am doing the tear down now then but we are not going to start on putting it back together until after the first of the year.

I worked more on the decking today.  all the screws are wasted.  they are rusty and filled with glue.  so I took out my saws all to cut the screw for the 2X4s at the edges. I then used my skill saw to cut the wood out between the cross members.  next time I work on it I will be working the screws out from the bottom.

Since you are basically starting from scratch, going to do anything cool and custom?

Not really but I will be building a rear couch.  if money allows my dad wants to do all fishing chairs up front. I may also do a hard top.

I converted a regular engine stand to hold the pontoon's motor.

I decided that for the first couple of nights I would leave the engine hoist hooked on just incase the wood slits or something.  better safe that sorry.

ok while my girls were playing at a friends house I figured I would use the nice weather to do some more work on the pontoon.  so I removed the motor pod

I then removed all the cross members

it was a pain because very bolt head look like this but there was nothing on the top of the bolts so they were all rusted

but I did find something that will need welding.  on the left pontoon the top seam is broken and someone tried to fix it with jb weld and it was on me.

Wow!!  Looks like you have some extra work ahead.  Keep on wrenching!!

This looks like a really fun project -- but not without some headaches.   Making great progress.  Do something custom and really cool.  Hot tub, maybe?  Glass bottom?  Helipad?

right now the plan is to keep it simple.  maybe something special on the next one.

Well I figured I would bring this back up so I know where it is. I took the time this weekend to make sure to drain the water out of the toons. next thing is to get my dad or someone to weld the break in the tube. The pontoons have been here waiting on my dad to weld the spot since he said I couldn't. but he just hasn't do it yet. but hopefully he will get to it before he heads back out of town. but I plan on getting back on it soon.

here she is right now.  My Dad leaves for Baton Rogue tomorrow.  So I will either have to wait until he gets back for ask or forgiveness when he returns.
