Title: LED's and $$$ Post by g on Aug 21st, 2012 at 6:04pm
I discovered that my underwater LED assembly sprung a leak and shorted out the whole thing. I really never boat at night, so never use the light but I really REALLY don't like it when my junk does not work right. I found the replacement on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001O0DIV8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 The only question is....why the hell does blue cost 20 bucks more than green and 40 more than white? Rant over...thanks for listening :D |

Prices for LED lights always amazes me. The LEDs can't cost more than 10 bucks for the set. Clearly the housing isn't great either as it leaked. ::)
If you do yank out the old one I'll gladly try to get it to work again and make it worth your while. I've been prototyping my own color changing set. |
Title: Re: LED's and $$$ (Update....Let there be light!!) Post by g on Aug 25th, 2012 at 11:22am
New lights came in from Amazon yesterday and I did the install today. Pretty straightforward. Unscrew the old one, pull it off, clean out the old 3M 4200. New one was a direct replacement. New wiring, new 4200 and screw the thing back on. Very bright!
I also learned that the Attwood lights have a 10 year warranty, so the leaky one is going back to Attwood. If they honor the warranty, I may soon have a new Underwater LED assembly for sale. If anyone is interested, let me know. |

It is pretty bright. I made the mistake of bench testing while looking directly at the light. Blinded me for a few seconds when it came on ;D I sent the old one in yesterday. I'll let you know if I get a new one back. |
