Title: Getting residue off outdrive
Post by Captain YARRR on Feb 25th, 2011 at 8:34am
Hey all,

What does everyone use for getting Lake Travis residue off their outdrive? My marina forgot to pull my boat out of the water for *TWO WEEKS* at the end of the season and it's all nasty looking. Looks like someone sprayed that Christmas tree snow all over it.

Hey there,
I have in my portfolio a biodegradable, non acid based hull cleaner that will remove algae, scumming, lime/calcium deposit, spider poop etc.
The down side is that I only sell it in 5 gallon pails and it is dilutable up to 1:4 so in theory a 5 gal pail make 20 gallons of ready to use.

I would be willing to pour off for you to try if you like :)

Hula Hull Cleaner is now being used at Hurst Harbor Service and Five Star Marine.

Let me know if you would like to play with some.

That would be great, I'd love to give it a try.

Yeah Tex you are right, I asked them to do it...they didn't do it and I really don't feel like fighting with them over it. When I paid them to detail it they didn't do an amazing job either, so I'll just do it myself correctly.

Hey Capt YARRR

Had a chance to demo the Hull Cleaner and tackle some stubborn water spots. I am attaching the before and after photos.  I also used it this product to clean up SEA TOW's center console windscreen.

I should have taken some before & after pics of my outboards. I sprayed Hula Boat Care product on it, let it sit for a second, scrubbed with a brush & the residue came off like a champ!! Hit them with the Surf Away spray detailer after that, and man they look like new. I had some tows soon after cleaning, which never fails, but the water beaded right off, and they still look good as new. Highly recommended.  :) My outboards looked white before. Now they are back to black!!

I am excited you got excellent results. With continual use of Surf Away Spray Detailer the water repelling capability increases.

Thanks for the write up.

That's impressive! I am hoping to get my boat cleaned up this Sunday and I'll give it a try. Hopefully my hull doesn't need much attention, but if it does I'll use it. So spray bottle is the way to go?

I gave SEA TOW some of my biodegradable hull cleaner to play with.  I am currently selling it to the service marinas in 5 gal pails.

What I can do is break it down to 1 gal bottles and provide it to who needs it. It will go a long way as we used it diluted at 1:4, I can also pour it out in quarts if needed.

Just let me know what size you need and we can sort out pricing.

I'd be interested in a gallon.  What's the price for that?
Thank you.

Sign me up for a gallon.  I can meet you anywhere, but if you're in the neighborhood of Lakeway Marina, that's very convenient.  Weekends are best.  Or if you find yourself in the downtown Austin area, I work in that vicinity.  Thank you.

I live close by Lakeway Marina and meet either Sat afternoon or anytime Sunday. Please PM me your phone number and I will call you to set up time and place etc.

Action Marine tested Hula Hull Cleaner and have placed an order to move away from the acid based product they are currently using.

Thank you for the order.
